ABOUT ME

Gráinne Dooley
It's an Irish name! Pronounced Grown-yeah:-)

I'm an Irish VFX On-Set Supervisor and I've been on sets for 25 years. The skills and knowledge acquired from this time are something you cant learn in college, its a selection of skills you develop as you learn and grow during a life on set.

I love being on set, and I love representing the VFX department. Lately I've been dipping my toes into the world of vfx post production and the dream is to eventually do both! I sometimes think the hardest part of being the On-Set Supervisor, especially if its a solo gig, is handing over all your work and saying goodbye, then spending the coming months wondering how its all going and hoping you got all you need!
I'd love to travel with the on set work and be in the midst of the action, and bring it all back with me to post and let the magic begin:-)

I studied Cert Media Production in Dublin Institute of Technology, then a Diploma in Animation in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, and then BA in Production Design at that same college.
(also a Diploma in Nutrition but thats another website!).
Eventually I booked a one way ticket to New Zealand just as Lord Of The Rings was winding down. I committed to not going home until I got a job into the camera dept.

Fast forward to 25 years later, with the slight majority of those years in VFX, and no looking back!
